I guess I’m like most people in that I expect to live a long, happy life with a long, fulfilling retirement.
‘The Cost of Retirement’ report, written by the Centre for Economics and Business Research, calculates that the cost of retirement is somewhere in the region of £413,000 for a typical household and £326,700 for an individual.
We are all living longer, healthier lives. This is great news, but only if we have the finances in place to really enjoy our retirement years. The combination of rising life expectancy and the impact of inflation over time can have huge financial implications.
The report also shows that if you want to retire early, you’ll need an additional £373,000; or £25,000 per year – if you plan to retire at 50.
With more and more of us reaching 90+, and with 90 becoming the new 70 in terms of healthy ageing, it has never been more necessary to understand the true cost of your retirement and how you will be able to fund everything you want to do with your retirement annuity.
